Welcome! Locations, Class times, Prices, News, and more...
Everyone has questions...
often everyone has the SAME questions.
All of our fees are published on this site. Yes, ALL of them! Just click here to see them.
One of the things people love about our academy is that children and adults train together. This means you can go to any class, any time! Wonder how that works? (No, there aren't children running around making noise). Come and try a class; we think you'll be convinced. CLICK HERE for Schedules
In MOST cases, the answer is "absolutely". Many health care professionals recommend the martial arts for children who have difficulty focusing, and for those with ADHD, ADD, Autism, Asperger's, etc. We will always let a child TRY a class. (We think the results will astound you).
Everyone has a right to try and improve their condition. Unless a health care provider recommends against it, exercise that includes balance and coordination skills are only going to help. Don't give up before you even try!
Yikes! What kind of school do you think we are running here? Believe it or not, martial arts schools contribute VERY FEW of the reported injuries at the Emergency room. It's a drop in the bucket compared to basketball! Karate requires focus, accuracy, and respect for others. You won't be leaving covered in bruises...we promise.
No! Most traditional karate schools don't have "fighting" as part of their curriculum. Sometimes students work with partners while learning self defense or blocking techniques, but no brawling! We DO have a sparring class on Saturdays if that interests you...(there is NO extra charge).
We think we have the best trial program in the city. Whatever month you start in is FREE! Absolutely no catch, no gimmicks! Want to know more about it? Just click
Usually the answer is "yes", but things can get busy at certain times of the year. I think you can safely assume that we can squeeze you in! After all, we do have REALLY big facilities (2000 square feet at each one). We'll let you know when you contact us, but you shouldn't worry about it.
Karate does not have any "built in" religious aspects. Obviously you are worried that what we teach may conflict with what you believe, or what you are teaching your child. We appreciate your concern, but be assured that we do not mix "religion" in our classes. We teach moral principles which come from many sources, but you will not see us meditating, praying, or bowing to shrines of dead ancestors. If you have any specific concerns, please talk to the sensei.
Well, the answer depends on what YOU are looking for. If you are hoping to improve your health, learn how to protect yourself, or just find something interesting to learn, we only ask that you try us for a month (after all, it's free!) Most who come, will stay. If you are looking for a school where you can get a black belt in two years...sorry, you're on the wrong website.
Well, not before your sixteenth birthday, and not before you have studied for at least four years (but it could take you ten years or more). The truth is, you will never earn one unless you are willing to work REALLY hard for it (and even then we can't guarantee it). We know that some schools give black belts to children, and to those who have only trained for a couple of years, but it doesn't make their students better skilled, or more able to protect themselves. The only thing impressive about a black belt is the person who is wearing it! We recommend you start off with a more reachable goal...a yellow belt (that will take about three to five months).
If you have made it this far down the page, you must be pretty serious! You will be happy to know that getting started is easy. You can go to our contact page if you have more questions. You can also go to our Online Registration page and let us know you are coming (we will save you a spot; no obligation).
